I started my broadcasting career as Transmission Controller at Tyne Tees TV. In my spare time I was a voice-over for over 10,000 TV commercials, worked in London for Thames TV as an announcer and newsreader. Presented Northern Life at Tyne Tees TV and was promoted to Chief Announcer.
Played the hateful Bernard McKenna on Coronation Street and the loveable Mr Sponge in Catherine Cookson's The Rag Nymph.
My first radio gig was Breakfast Show presenter for Metro Radio, a spell on BBC Radio Newastle then Century Radio

If you were going to a Halloween fancy dress party, what/who would you go as?
If I was going to a Halloween fancy dress party I'd go as George Clooney. Women often take us for brothers. Mind you, I'm usually buying them large gins at the time.

My radio controlled watch. It loses half a second every six million years - or your money back!
What did you spend most of the school holidays doing?
Playing football with the lads. The game kicked off at 8am and lasted until dark.
Did you do anything to earn your pocket money when you were a kid?
Printing photographs from old family negatives with some ancient kit I bought in a junk shop - it worked!

I don't know the meaning of the word scared - I'm too frightened to look it up in the dictionary (boom! boom!)
