Ben Weston

My radio career happened completely by accident. I needed an operation on my leg when I was 14 and while in hospital I ended up doing a show on the radio station there!!!
These days, you're more likely to hear me on Century Radio each weekday.
... AND A LITTLE BIT EXTRA
What did you spend most of the school holidays doing?
Staying in bed mostly – I lived miles from school and used to be up at obscene o’clock during term time so I made the most of it!
Did you do anything to earn your pocket money when you were a kid?
Not really. My Gran and Grandad used to take me everywhere as my Mum and Dad were both at work so they spoiled me rotten.
If you could take part in any tv programme, which one would it be?
I used to love The Krypton Factor! Although I’m a bit thick and the most unfit person on the planet it looked like fun. I can probably land a plane though.
What are you most scared of?
Lots of things. I don’t know what I’d do if anything happened to my parents and I can’t cope without my fiancée either. I’m a bit of a wuss.
Have you ever been told you look like someone else famous?
Yes, Phil Jupitus and Michael Ball. I know, don’t ask.
Which animal do you most resemble?
A big shaggy old English Sheepdog. Or a whale. You decide…
What was your nickname at school?
Vidal. On account of all the hair gel I used to (and still do) use…
What song ALWAYS reminds you of summer?
Summertime – DJ Jazzy Jeff. A bit naff but it does, sorry!
Which films have made you cry?
Armageddon –the bit where Bruce Willis dies. I’d just been dumped and was feeling pretty low so that pushed me over the edge!
What was the last book you read / what book are you reading at the moment?
Gordon Ramsay’s autobiography, which is really interesting, especially if you like food like me!
If you were a piece of fruit or vegetable, which one would you be (and why)?
A big juicy Galia Melon, mostly because it’s the one remotely healthy thing I eat!
What did your teachers generally say about you in your school reports?
‘Must try harder’, story of my life!
What's your favourite (printable) joke?
Told to me by my (Irish) sister-in-law so it’s not Irishist : Paddy and Mick are landing their Aer Lingus plane when Paddy says to Mick ‘You know Mick, that runway doesn’t look very long’. ‘I know Paddy’, says Mick, ‘but look how flippin’ wide it is!’
What name would your parents have given you if you'd been born the opposite sex?
Katherine. Very feminine!
Which is your favourite ever Eurovision Song Contest entry?
Love City Groove -1995 – fab!
