Shayne Thomas Ward born 16 October 1984 in Clayton, Manchester is a British pop singer of Irish background, who rose to prominence in the UK and Ireland after becoming the winner of the 2005 series of The X Factor.
During The X Factor competition the Brit nominated Ward was mentored by manager Louis Walsh. The bookies' favourite to win the show, he defeated duo Journey South and singer Andy Abraham in the final by a margin of 1.2% of the vote, out of a reported 10.8 million phone votes cast by viewers.
Now Shayne is back with his new album recorded over the last twelve months in Sweden with legendary pop overlord Max Martin. ‘Breathless’ is bursting with an energy few would have expected from his debut. It is an unselfconscious and fruity collection of pop, R&B and electronica with world class production values taking influences from Shayne’s own iPod playlists - Prince, Ne-Yo, Justin. Ward says that it is a "funky, sexy and different" step for him.
Now you can see him live at Newcastle Arena on 15th May 2008
